a new country is being formed and you are given the task to make only ten official rules or laws the people of this country have to follow.
what are the ten laws?.
1. No JW's allowed !!!
in my old congregation, everyone seems clean.
mostly chaste courtship, kingdom hall wedding, blah blah.. well there are lots of cases of fondling but they were soon forgotton.
when my husband and i confessed to sex before marriage, the elders were disgusted.
I knew a brother who cheated on his wife because.... well...she was sleeping around with other men...so I guess it was payback time for him...some years later he was appointed an MS.

What would it take?
So what would it realistically take for some of the current members of the borg to leave? I wasn’t around in 1975, but from what I’ve read and heard, it seems that a quite a few persons left…would love to know how much!
So how extreme, or what changes (doctrinal or otherwise) could cause a reasonable amount of persons to second guess the GB?

what was your wake-up call(s) before you left the jw s organization?
.
The constant hatred displayed towards non-cult members (worldly people) and the beating up of folks who went to college...plus the fact that you can't read anything outside of what is printed in NY.

i am not here on assignment.
we came here (poland) to take care of my wife's mother.. i was often asked when i returned to the us if it was difficult to participate in the preaching work in a foreign country when i was not fluent in the native language.
not at all, i replied.
There was a brother from Florida that I liked working with in FS...this brother racked up a ton of hours by doing the following, hence my reasons for going out in FS with him as much as possible....this was even before i knew TTATT:
Meet at 7:30AM for street work (Walmart, publix parking lots ect)
Do a couple bus stops/parking lots for about 10 minutes and then get some coffee ect for an hour...then meet at Khall for 9:30 AM, while the others would do D2D, he'd be making business calls, checking on his company warehouse, checking old friends ect...while we'd both give out magazines, but no Bible or anything beyond 10 seconds...then go luch, hang out a bit, then back to street work for another few hours until 3PM (ofcourse, most of the was spent in South Florida traffic to get to all his business appointments ect...)
So that's how you get in 10 hours of service in a month!

a few of my pet peeves were:.
the po/cobe knowing that he needed to have an elders meeting after the meeting but not telling any other elders.
humm, but his wife knew.
My dad is an elder and dislikes the following:
- Expected to cover costs where there was a shortfall in donations because he's not a window-washer
- Expected to do carry home folks after meeting and FS because he could afford it "more" than the other brothers who had vehicles
- He wasn't happy with some of the petty stuff that was discussed at the elders meeting
- Expected to the the longest parts on the service meeting
I was so glad when I sent my dad outside the country for a couple months break, so he could just relax!

paragraph 17.
"at that time, the life-saving direction that we receive from jehovahs organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.
I doubt it is anything significant...it's just to keep the cult members in check.

for a year now, i have been handling the accounts.
we have 6 elders and 7 ms, and none of them ( i am not serving), want to do the accounts, so they asked me to do it.
here is what i have noticed.. 4 elderly sisters cover the whole congregation in donations monthly!
I haven't contributed since my early teens...even before knowing TTATT...even when I contributed, it would be about at the beginning of each year...and I'd contribute about 5 bucks every January.
While living in South Florida, things got hard for some the brothers, some lost jobs/home...reduction at the workplace...I can't see how they do it, because some of them were making minimum wage...yikes!!!

It has been my experience also that just a couple of persons actually make any donations at all...just a couple that are working, but since some that use to contribute have had to cutback, they give just a little. Although some of the elders I know feel guilted in "making up" for the shortfall esp when the bills come.
What I hated the most is that they expected those who have jobs (thanks to university degrees) to donate more and purchase items used for the hall...one evening, a couple years back, we had the old microphones with cords...since other congregations were changing over to "cordless" microphones, a brother approached me and asked if i could foot the bill....I almost told him to **** ***....these are the same people who criticized me for going to college.
But I really think that some just don't have it to give, even if they wanted to.
